Tara with Monat

Updated: Feb 22, 2019

Today’s feature mom entrepreneur is Tara, a mother of two and a busy career woman. During the day, Tara is a full-time elementary school teacher, which is a job that doesn’t end when the bell rings at the end of the day. Teachers spend countless hours preparing lesson plans, grading, and managing their classroom outside of school hours. In her spare time, Tara is a Managing Market Builder with Monat.

For anyone who does not know Monat, “Monat is a revolutionary and innovative hair care line of naturally based products.” Tara has been working with Monat for one year, after being introduced to the products by a friend. Tara fell in love with Monat after “just one wash” and became involved in the company after doing some research and learning that “Monat hair care products are made from pure, safe ingredients (without harmful ingredients typically found in hair care products); they are non-toxic and cruelty-free, gluten free and vegan.”

One of the biggest challenges Tara has faced is that Monat is primarily an online business, because of how connected we are all the time, it can be a struggle to put down the business, and be fully present with your family. Finding the balance between growing the business and taking advantage of being able to work from home is an ongoing challenge, but Tara is grateful for the freedom and flexibility that has come from working with Monat. It has allowed her to spend more time with her family, and has provided more opportunities than she expected.

What is Tara’s advice for a Mom trying to become an entrepreneur? “Don’t be afraid. You do not need to know it all to start! Learning on your journey is part of the fun. Dream bigger then you’ve ever dreamed before!”
